In planning — nothing is implemented yet

One place to build an app, instead of six tools pretending to be one.

Decibles is a modular desktop IDE that orchestrates the compilers, SDKs, package managers, and build systems you already use — so creating, configuring, developing, testing, building, and shipping an app happen in one coherent environment.

What Decibles is for

Built for beginners learning to ship their first app and for experienced developers tired of hand-wiring the same toolchain every project. Decibles doesn't replace your compilers and SDKs — it orchestrates the ones that already exist.

Three targets to start

Desktop applications, web applications, and backend services and APIs. Python with PySide6 for desktop, FastAPI for backend — proposed directions, not locked commitments.

Your project stays yours

Ordinary source files, conventional structure, a Decibles manifest only where it helps. Existing projects import without being converted into a proprietary format.

Lightweight by default

The core install stays small. Language support, SDKs, and optional components download on demand, with verification and clear progress at every step.

Honest about platforms

Cross-platform support is based on real toolchains and real capabilities per OS — not a simulated "works everywhere" that quietly doesn't.

Downloads

Windows is the initial target platform, with Linux and macOS planned afterward.

Nothing to download yet. Decibles is still in planning — this section will list real builds, platforms, sizes, and install instructions once they exist.

Documentation

Guides will cover installation, starting a new project, importing an existing one, dependency management, debugging, building, and troubleshooting — written as each feature is actually implemented and verified, not ahead of it.

No docs published yet. Check back as the planning phase turns into working features.

Dependencies & components

Optional components — language support, SDKs, debuggers, build tools — are fetched on demand rather than bundled into the installer. The planned distribution split:

  • Cloudflare Pages

    Public website

Hosts this site and its static content.

  • Cloudflare R2

    Smaller components

Candidate host for lighter downloadable resources.

  • GitHub Releases

    Source & larger artifacts

Source code and, where appropriate, bigger release downloads.

  • Upstream providers

    Third-party tools

Direct from the maintainer when that's the better install path.

The exact catalog, hosting split, and install mechanism are still being finalized.

Project status & roadmap

A transparent read on what's real versus what's planned.

now

Planning

Architecture, feasibility, dependency distribution, security, and packaging are being evaluated before any implementation starts. The Cloudflare Pages site (this page) is the first real artifact.

next

Core architecture

Separating UI, project management, language/framework integration, dependency management, execution, debugging, build, packaging, and platform services.

later

First workflow, end to end

One complete path — likely Python desktop with PySide6, or FastAPI backend — from new project to packaged build on Windows.

future

Linux & macOS

Expanding beyond the initial Windows target once the Windows workflow is solid.

FAQ

Is Decibles available yet?

No. It's in the planning phase — no implementation has started. This site will be updated as that changes.

Will it force me into a proprietary project format?

No. Decibles is designed to preserve conventional project structures and existing ecosystem configuration, adding a manifest only where it genuinely helps.

What languages and frameworks will it support?

It will support multiple languages, but prioritize complete, well-tested workflows for a smaller set — starting with Python/PySide6 for desktop and FastAPI for backend.

Does it reinvent compilers and build tools?

No. Decibles orchestrates established compilers, SDKs, package managers, debuggers, and build systems rather than replacing them.
